Conduction (CdH) 1
Type 1 | Conduction (Cd) 10-100 A
The Conduction (Cd) model utilizes a pair of conduction-cooled current leads engineered for precise thermal management. Operating entirely without a liquid helium bath, this robust "dry" terminal design is ideal for applications requiring continuous currents between 10 A and 100 A.
CdCt Conduction Cold Terminal
Type 2 | Conduction Cold Terminal (CdCt) 2-15 kA
The CdCt is a conduction type which acts as the termination point for the input and output ends of a superconducting cable. Operating entirely without HTS material, it manages the thermal load by utilizing the inherent cooling capacity of the cable terminations — commonly referred to as a parasitic heat load.

Type 3 | CdCt with Convection Nitrogen (CdCt-CvN2) 10-45 kA
The CdCt-CvN2 is a conduction and convection type, 100% LN2-cooled system designed to act as the termination point for the input and output ends of a superconducting cable.
Convection (CvH) 1
Type 4 | Convection (CvHe) 100 A -30 kA
The Convection of Helium (CvHe) model is a highly efficient, convection-cooled pair of current leads. The system features a "wet" cold terminal that is immersed directly in a liquid helium (LHe) bath.
Convection w. HTS (CvHH) 1
Type 5 | Convection w. HTS (CvHeHTS) 5-70 kA
The Convection of Helium with HTS (CvHeHTS) model is an advanced, convection-cooled pair of current leads that integrates high-temperature superconducting (HTS) material. This highly efficient design is engineered for demanding high-current applications ranging from 5 kA to 70 kA.
Type 6 | Convection w. HTS & Nitrogen (CvN2HeHTS) 10-70 kA
The Convection of Nitrogen and Helium with HTS (CvN2HeHTS) model builds upon the CvHeHTS architecture by introducing liquid nitrogen (LN2) to actively cool the upper resistive portion of the lead (Section 1). This highly efficient, dual-coolant design is optimized for heavy-duty applications operating between 10 kA and 70 kA.
