M&W PRESSURE RELIEF SYSTEMS

Introducing M&W Pressure Relief Systems – A Business Unit of Mark & Wedell A/S

M&W Pressure Relief Systems, a specialized business unit under Mark & Wedell, provides engineered solutions for overpressure protection in critical applications across the oil & gas, energy, processing and industrial sectors.

Our focus is on bursting discs and vents, delivered as part of carefully engineered and customized pressure relief systems that meet the stringent safety and performance demands of our clients. We specify and tailor disc performance to exacting requirements – ensuring reliable, application-specific solutions.

Key offerings include:

  • Our proprietary Annulus Pressure Relief System, developed for oil and gas well stimulation, is based on customized burst disc technology and engineered to safeguard downhole environments through precisely triggered pressure relief
  • Bursting disc and vent solutions, engineered for optimal pressure protection
  • Customized disc configurations aligned with specific system parameters
  • Engineering Services – Pressure Test Calculations, optional engineering support for safe APRS deployment. Using proprietary modelling tools, we simulate pressure behaviour across the treating iron and wellsite setup, accounting for flow rates, pressure thresholds and upstream/downstream equipment to verify the optimal burst disc rating, define safe operating windows, and provide clear configuration notes for the field crew.

Every solution reflects our commitment to providing Accurate, Precise, Reliable & Safe operational assurance.

Annulus Pressure Relief System

Mark & Wedell invented the Annulus Pressure Relief System (APRS) together with Maersk Oil & Gas (Part of TotalEnergies) as a trusted overpressure protection system for oil and gas well stimulation treatments and intervention up to 10,000 psi (690bar).

An advanced – yet simple to install and use – system utilizing burst disc technology adapted from the nuclear power industry.

Burst Discs

M&W offers burst discs for explosion pressure relief for gases and liquids for all industries subject to client specific requirements.

The burst discs are offered at a variety of pressure and temperature ranges and comes with a certificate.

Explosive Vent Panels

M&W offers explosive vent panels for the power plant sector and process industry. Explosive vent panels are available in square or round shapes and can be offered for outdoor applications.

Explosive Vent Panels are capable of withstanding pressure waves and to avoid vacuum. They typically use a single layer panel with a bursting pressure at 0.1 bar/ 22°C.

In-house engineering and production

As an engineering and production company with all key competencies and capabilities in-house, we integrate pressure relief components into broader mechanical systems, ensuring seamless fit, function, and reliability.

Every solution reflects our commitment of providing Accurate, Precise, Reliable & Safe operational assurance.

M&W Pressure Relief Systems exists to support operators, engineers, and OEMs with technically sound, field-proven pressure management components – from concept to delivery.

Our engineering team has decades of experience in pressure management, materials science, and downhole tool integration. This enables us to assist clients from early-stage design through prototyping, testing, and full-scale deployment.

Industry-specific codes and certifications

We work closely with OEMs and service providers to meet industry-specific codes and certifications such as ASME, ISO, and NACE – safeguarding operational integrity in high-pressure, corrosive, and safety-critical environments.

The manufacturing processes follow strict quality control protocols, with full traceability and documentation for each pressure relief component delivered.

Whether optimizing high-pressure equipment for offshore platforms and/or stimulation vessels or safeguarding sensitive instrumentation in energy plants, we deliver systems designed with safety, reliability, and operational efficiency in mind.
