Kilpilahti Power Plant – Customized primary sampler for – 40 degree Celsius and ATEX 21 – Coal – 2017 .
M&W JAWO Sampling supplied a special cross belt sampler which had to operate under challenging working conditions to the Kilpilahti Power Plant. The cross belt sampler had to function under extreme temperatures of –40 degree Celsius and with ATEX zone 21 certification. M&W was able to successfully make a customised cross belt sampler that could live up to these requirements and which is now in use at the power plant.
The Kilpilahti power plant was first put into commission in 1971 and in 2015 it was decided to refurbish the old boilers and steam turbines to make the production more sustainable and efficient. It has a total capacity of 450MW heating and 30MW electricity.
The plant is a joint venture between 3 companies: Neste Oil Group (40%), Veolia Group (40%) and Borealis Group (20%).
