M&W JAWO Sampling delivered the world’s largest automated sampling system for woodchips for the newly built AMV4 to Amager Power Plant– a 500 MW biomass CFB unit replacing unit 3 (coal fired). The sampling system includes two 18 meter tall elevators for reject material, 2 cross belt samplers, 4 screw conveyors, dividers, sample collectors with splitters and ancillary instruments.

M&W JAWO Sampling delivered Amager Power Plants first automated sampling system (for coal) back in 1989 which was then followed by an automated sampling system for wood pellets in 2012 when the power plant was owned by Vattenfall.

AMV4 will exclusively use biomass, with an estimated 1.2 million tons of woodchips used every year and replaces 500-600,000 tonnes of annual coal consumption enabling Copenhagen to become the world’s first CO2 neutral capital in the world supplying 60% of Copenhagen’s heating demand from biomass.
