M&W JAWO Sampling is delivering a complete automated sampling system comprising more than 25 different sampling units to Voestalpine Texas for representative sampling of received iron pellets. The iron pellets are used as raw materials in the manufacturing of HBI (hot briquetted iron).

The plant’s own deep-sea port can handle five million tonnes of material annually (3 million tonnes of iron ore pellets and 2 million tonnes of hot briquetted iron). Interestingly, Voestalpine Texas is likely to receive iron pellets shipped from Narvik in Norway from Europe’s largest iron pellet manufacturer, LKAB where M&W JAWO currently is installing two parallel sampling systems – the largest ever automated sampling system installed in Europe.

The Voestalpine Texas project is the biggest ever investment (USD 950 mio.) by an Austrian company in the US to date.
