The retrofit current leads are designed to fit into existing set-ups. It can utilize either the CvHH or CvHNH design to upgrade your existing current leads. Mark & Wedell are specialists in implementing new solutions in old cryostats taking spatial constrains into account. Such a retrofit can enable a current increase of up to 50% and/or a significant reduction in the LHe consumption. This is done by utilizing HTS material and LN2 as a coolant. This design is used for operating currents of 2-30 kA.

The CvHNH is similar to the CvHH, but here liquid nitrogen (LN2) is introduced to cool the resistive part of the current leads (section 1 (see sketch)). When the design specification allows for LN2 to be used as a coolant, the helium consumption can be significantly reduced. This design is used for operating currents of 2-70 kA.

The CvHH is a convection type, LHe + GHe-cooled pair of current leads, which introduces high-temperature superconducting material. Section 1 (see sketch) is similar to the traditional CvH, while section 2 has HTS material as conductor of the currents. This design requires that the intersection point is kept at a fixed temperature, above the critical temperature of the chosen HTS. Since the HTS part fortunately is a poor conductor of heat compared to copper and the HTS does not have any resistive losses, the amount of heat that reaches the helium bath is very low. This design can be used for operating currents of 2-70 kA.

The CvH is a convection type, LHe + GHe-cooled pair of current leads. It has, similarly to the CdH, the cold terminal immerged in a bath of liquid helium. In addition, the helium gas generated from the boil-off is funnelled into one or several channels inside the current leads and the gas is used to cool the current leads from the inside. This is a very efficient design compared to the CdH, as it takes advantage of the helium boil-off. This design is used for operating currents ranging from 100-30 kA.

The CdH is a conduction type, LHe-cooled pair of current leads. The cold terminal is immerged in a bath of liquid helium, which removes the heat conducted from the warm terminal (QC) and any heat generated from resistive losses in the current leads (QR). This design is used for operating currents ranging from 10-100 A.

The Stainless Steel Buckets (SSB) can be used in many different industries and for many different purposes. The SSB come either as a standard version with a lid or can be customised with wheels, air-tight lid, outlet chute etc. The SSB come in different sizes, typically 6 l, 10 l and 15 l, but can also be customised.

The Plastic Bucket (PB) can be used in many different industries and for many different purposes. The PB include an air-tight lid and come in different sizes, typically 6 l, 10 l and 15 l. However, can also be delivered up to 100 l.

The Dosing Conveyor (DoC) is specially designed to transport high volumes of sample material and can be engaged in any of the steps of the sampling process. Contrary to a standard conveyor belt, the DoC has a design that ensures a minimum of spillage and correct dosing for instance into a crusher or a divider. The DoC can also be used to transport the rejected material back to the mainstream.

The Screw Conveyor (SC) is used for transportation of bulk materials from A to B by rotation of a screw (the auger principle). The material is transferred in a tube that ensures no spillage of material. The SC provides accurate dosing for instance into a crusher or a divider. The SC can also be used to transport relatively small volumes of reject material from sample preparation back to the mainstream.

The Bucket Belt Elevator (BBE) is designed to lift material from point A to point B by means of buckets. The buckets are attached to a belt that pulls them around. The BBE is typically used to lift the reject material and return it to the main flow.

The Bucket Chain Elevator (BCE) is designed to lift material from point A to point B by means of buckets. The buckets are pulled by two chains. The BCE is typically used to lift the reject material and return it to the main flow in a sampling solution.

The Bucket Lifter (BL) is designed to lift material from A to B by means of one or more buckets. Compared to the BCE or BBE the BL is specifically designed for lifting smaller quantities of material.

The Air Slide Sampler (AS) is designed for continuous or intermittent increment extraction of dry, non-sticky airborne powdered material ducted in horizontal or inclined air slides. The AS intersects ducted material, typically confined to a circular cross-section, in a linear increment transect.

The Dirty Air Pitot Laser (DAPL) is a portable instrument designed to measure the temperature, pressure and flow velocity in fuel pipes or duct systems transporting a mixture of air and pulverized coal or biomass as well as cement, lime or food product or other particles. The DAPL has a built-in laser pointer for distance measurements which is needed in order to obtain the correct data for the full flow velocity profile.The DAPL can work as a stand-alone unit and provide data to the operator or alternatively with M&W PFS or PFSA to ensure optimal measurements. Furthermore, the DAPL can transfer the data to the PFSA via Bluetooth.

The Dustless Connection (DuC) is designed to connect a portable measuring instrument with the transport pipe. The DuC is permanently fitted in a socket on the pipe. Such a retrofit can enable a current increase of up to 50% and/or a significant reduction in the LHe consumption. This is done by utilizing HTS material and LN2 as a coolant. This design is used for operating currents of 2-30 kA.

The CvHNH is similar to the CvHH, but here liquid nitrogen (LN2) is introduced to cool the resistive part of the current leads (section 1 (see sketch)). When the design specification allows for LN2 to be used as a coolant, the helium consumption can be significantly reduced. This design is used for operating currents of 2-70 kA.

Section 1 (see sketch) is similar to the traditional CvH, while section 2 has HTS material as conductor of the currents. The Screw Sampler Mixing Tank (SMX) is designed to create an average composite sample from continuous or intermittent increment extraction of dry non-sticky powdered free-falling material from a chute or in a silo.The SMX is the standard in many cement plants where extraction and integrated mixing is required.The mixing function of the SMX provides for more well-mixed samples compared to the SCR.

The Rotary Tube Divider (RTD) - or rotary sample divider - is designed for representative mass reduction of bulk material. The sample divider can be used for mass reduction of virtually any type of dry materials. It is a robust, all-round sub-sampling solution. The RTD is used in many multi-stage sampling systems but may also be used as a stand-alone divider.

The CvHNH is similar to the CvHH, but here liquid nitrogen (LN2) is introduced to cool the resistive part of the current leads (section 1 (see sketch)). When the design specification allows for LN2 to be used as a coolant, the helium consumption can be significantly reduced. This design is used for operating currents of 2-70 kA.

The Twin Roll Shredder (TRS) is designed for shredding of soft and medium-hard materials – dry or slightly wet and semi-sticky. For materials such as wood chips, waste wood, cardboard, plastics, coal, electro-scrap and some metal waste like milling waste. The Twin Roll Shredder can be used as a primary, secondary or even tertiary crusher.

The Vezin Sampler (VS) is designed to extract increments from a vertically falling stream of material. Representativity is ensured since a complete cross section of the free-falling bulk material is collected.

The retrofit current leads are designed to fit into existing set-ups. It can utilize either the CvHH or CvHNH design to upgrade your existing current leads. Mark & Wedell are specialists in implementing new solutions in old cryostats taking spatial constrains into account. Such a retrofit can enable a current increase of up to 50% and/or a significant reduction in the LHe consumption. This is done by utilizing HTS material and LN2 as a coolant. This design is used for operating currents of 2-30 kA.

The Cross-Belt Sweeper (CBSw) is designed to remove tramp metal from bulk material being conveyed on a conveyor belt. Without belt stoppage The CBSw will automatically remove tramp metal by a detection system with a minimal waste of usable bulk material.

The Dosing Conveyor (DoC) is specially designed to transport high volumes of sample material and can be engaged in any of the steps of the sampling process. Contrary to a standard conveyor belt, the DoC has a design that ensures a minimum of spillage and correct dosing for instance into a crusher or a divider. The DoC can also be used to transport the rejected material back to the mainstream.

The Screw Conveyor (SC) is used for transportation of bulk materials from A to B by rotation of a screw (the auger principle). The material is transferred in a tube that ensures no spillage of material. The SC provides accurate dosing for instance into a crusher or a divider. The SC can also be used to transport relatively small volumes of reject material from sample preparation back to the mainstream.

The Pulverised Fuel Sampler Automatic BIO (PFSA-B) is a portable unit with automatic operation for extraction of a representative physical sample of pulverized biomass from the full cross section of a fuel pipe, inspired by ISO 9931 and improved further.The PFSA-B is primarily used to determine the fuel mass-flow rate of biomass in the pipes fed to the burners and furnace.For optimal measurements, the PFSA-B should be used together with a M&W Dirty Air Pitot Laser (DAPL) to ensure a fully isokinetic sample. By using the DAPL the PFSA-B can receive data directly via Bluetooth.

The Dirty Air Pitot Laser (DAPL) is a portable instrument designed to measure the temperature, pressure and flow velocity in fuel pipes or duct systems transporting a mixture of air and pulverized coal or biomass as well as cement, lime or food product or other particles. The DAPL has a built-in laser pointer for distance measurements which is needed in order to obtain the correct data for the full flow velocity profile.The DAPL can work as a stand-alone unit and provide data to the operator or alternatively with M&W PFS or PFSA to ensure optimal measurements. Furthermore, the DAPL can transfer the data to the PFSA via Bluetooth.

The Automatic Dust Sampler (ADS) is designed to collect isokinetic (i.e. representative) particle samples from flue gas pipes, or similar particle transport pipes, to enable laboratory analysis of the particle samples.

The Air Slide Sampler (AS) is designed for continuous or intermittent increment extraction of dry, non-sticky airborne powdered material ducted in horizontal or inclined air slides. The AS intersects ducted material, typically confined to a circular cross-section, in a linear increment transect.

The Dirty Air Pitot (DAP) is a portable instrument that is designed to measure the temperature, pressure and flow-velocity in fuel pipes or duct systems transporting a mixture of air and pulverized coal or biomass as well as cement, lime or powder food products or other particles of similar size.The DAP can work as a stand-alone unit and provide data to the operator or alternatively with M&W PFS or PFSA to ensure optimal measurements.

The Dustless Connection (DuC) is designed to connect a portable measuring instrument with the transport pipe. The DuC is permanently fitted in a socket on the pipe. The DuC enables the measurement instrument to be easily inserted dust-free into the transport pipe thanks to the overpressure mechanism.

The Eccentricity Tester (ET) is used to test the eccentricity of the sockets welded on to the transport pipes. This is required to avoid the Pulverized Fuel Sampler PFS/PFSA from getting stuck on the inside wall of the transport pipe during sampling. The ET test if the space inside the transport pipe is sufficent for a full rotation of the PFS/PFSA.

The Welding Guide (WG) is a tool that ensures a correct positioning of the required socket that enables the Dustless Connector (DC) to be connected to the transport pipe. The DC is used as an instrument port for the Pulverized Fuel Sampler (PFS/PFSA) that is used to extract a representative sample from the full cross section of a fuel pipe. Since, it is critical that the sample head of the PFS/PFSA can rotate freely inside the transport pipe a correct mounting of the socket is essential. The WG secures that the socket with thread is welded perpendicular on and in the center line of the transport pipe.
